Ever since I made my first Chanel makeup purchase last Christmas (Perfection Lumiere foundation for anyone wondering) I’ve been drooling over so many things, all of which I’ve always refrained from buying due to their fairly hefty price tag. Seeing as it was Christmas I decided to go down the ‘to me, from me’ route and finally purchase the Le Blanc De Chanel illuminating base, something I have been intrigued by for a while.
The product is described by the company as ‘multi-use’ which is what had me most intrigued. I’ve tried this in several ways including:
– under foundation as an illuminating base
– carving out and highlighting the brow bone
– generally highlighting (i.e cheekbones, cupids bow etc)
– lightening foundation by mixing
Le Blanc De Chanel does what it says on the tin – it is multi purpose and the number of ways in which I have tried using it so far have definitely worked, However, I must note that is a very natural product meaning that the majority of the effects it gives are very subtle – this is great if you’re wanting a minimal ‘no makeup’ or natural effect – if you’re fancying something more glam (which i often do), I wouldn’t reach for this product.
I think it’s worth mentioning that while many old reviews state that the packaging of the product is a huge downfall – this put me off when I was thinking of buying it – the packaging now features a pump for easy dispensing of the product and therefore, I don’t see packaging as a large issue.
If you have used Chanel makeup products, particularly foundations you’ll know that they generally have a specific fruity scent, this product is not heavily scented at all which makes it pleasant to use on sensitive skin. The thin, light formula also makes it great for sensitive skin.
In terms of price, Le Blanc De Chanel retails at around £33. For a product that doesn’t show a dramatic difference when used, this is quite a lot. However having said that, the amount of product you need to use per use is so little that I feel as though this is pretty much a one time purchase and that it would literally last forever (an investment in other words).
Overall I do really like this product for everyday, natural wear.
You can pick Le Blanc De Chanel up in most department stores, I got mine here: http://www.boots.com/en/CHANEL-LE-BLANC-DE-CHANEL-Multi-Use-Illuminating-Base-30ml_1515662/
Happy New Year!
